*** AmeriCalc 2003 *** *** NETWORK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS *** The network installation is designed primarily for System and Network Administrators, and others who are very familiar and comfortable with networks. There are several benefits to using the network install: 1. You don't have to lug a CD from computer to computer doing each install individually. 2. You can make decisions for the Users so they don't hurt themselves. This includes the location of 80Mb of video files and whether or not to convert old data. 3. It eliminates the possibility of users making mistakes such installing multiple databases, etc. 4. The installation program knows the location of the data, making mapping errors impossible. 5. You enter the CD Key just once so users don't have to be Concerned with locating and entering a key. WHAT IT DOES It will copy data files, tutorial files, and the user installation files to a specified folder on the server. It will then create an ini file based on your responses to the questions. When the users run the installation, it is configured based on your choices. WHAT YOU DO Run the set up program, make choices, an tell the users how to start the user installation program from their computer. WHAT USERS DO Follow your instructions to run the installation executable. DETALED INSTRUCTIONS: 1. If your company used AmeriCalc 2002 last year, we suggest you do the installation from a computuer which has that program installed. Insert the CD in the Drive. 2. If the installation auto-runs, Cancel and Exit it at the License Agreement screen. 3. On the CD, find and run the file called AdminSetup.exe 4. When prompted enter the CD key from the shipping label. 5. Select the Destination folder for the data files. These should be in a shared location where all potential AmeriCalc Users have full read, write, edit and delete permissions. 6. Determine if there is data from last year that should be converted. 7. Decide the run location for the video tutorial files. 8. Finish the Install. 9. Notify the selected AmeriCalc users of the availability of the program. 10. Instruct users about the location of the AmerUser3.exe file and how to run it from their individual computers. Remember, that often different users will be mapped to the same server folder differently. This will not affect the install, but it will affect how you tell them to locate the file. 11. If you choose to force the users to download the video files to their hard drives, after everyone has run the installation, you may delete the tutorial files to free up about 80Mb of space on the server. 12. Contact Technical support at 603-893-8800 if you have any questions or problems. 90% of our support calls stem from incorrect database mapping, or the installation of parallel databases. Don't let it happen to you.
